Green Old Age – Biden vs Trump

The upcoming U.S. presidential election in November 2024 is a hot topic of discussion. Of course, the main point of contention is the two elderly men vying for the highest office in the world.

81 vs. 78

This contest between two of the oldest candidates ever seen for the highest office is unprecedented in many countries. The established generation in America, with its well-organized political machinery, loyal support base, and immense wealth, seems determined not to relinquish its hold on absolute power.

Just as Qin Shi Huang of ancient China did, the hunger for power appears boundless, regardless of age.

In contrast, leaders in other advanced nations, such as those in Europe or Northeast Asia, are generally between the ages of 40 and 60. This age range is typical not only in politics but also in higher positions across various fields.

When compared to this, the head of the United States seems considerably older. This was clearly demonstrated in the recent debate between President Biden and former President Trump, where President Biden, despite being accomplished in many ways, showed a noticeable lack of persuasive communication skills.

After this election, the winner will need to hold office for four years. Given the U.S.’s role as the world’s police and the current turbulent global situation post-COVID-19, how America behaves will significantly impact the fate of other nations.

One can’t help but wonder if such an elderly president can effectively fulfill this role. There is also the cautious speculation that this might lead to a shift in the status of the world’s superpowers.

Though it’s another country’s election, it certainly is one to watch with great interest.
